TechGirlz won a $5,000 grant from the eBay Foundation to help further its mission of increasing the number of women technologists.

The nonprofit will use the grant to develop three after-school programs that it will share with other organizations, according to a recent release.

Women programmers make up 21 percent of programmers, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, down from 24 percent in 2000.
