Benjamin’s Desk is open for business — and this time, it’s official. The Rittenhouse coworking spot will hold its grand opening party next week.
The space, which boasts plenty of tall windows and natural light, is filling up. While initial member company Curalate has left for First Round Capital‘s new space in University City, both Uber‘s Philly team and dinner party crowdfunding startup Zokos are still around. Cofounder Michael Maher said that as of Tuesday, Curalate’s former office would be occupied by Democracy Engine, a Washington, D.C.-based politics and tech company.
Maher and his cofounder and wife, Jennifer Maher, have also hired an office manager for the space, which aims to have a more corporate feel by providing services for its members.
Maher wants Benjamin’s Desk to serve a variety of businesses and not any specific niche. So far, inside the spot’s open space, a real estate business works alongside Zokos and IQCityFi, a company that’s working to supply free Internet service in a section of the city. (Its website is launching next month.)
