All throughout the year, DCFemTech supports the work of D.C.’s many and varied women-in-tech organizations. The umbrella group hosts hackathons, gives out awards and provides space for reflection and celebration. But in October, for the third year running, this mission will take on a whole new level.
That’s because October is DCFemTech’s Tour de Code month, a month dedicated to amplifying the voices of the collective’s member organizations and the women therein. And boy, is it going to be a busy month.

All month long, DCFemTech’s member organizations will play host to a long lineup of events ranging from skills bootcamps to film screenings and mentoring nights. If you’re a regular member of Women Who Code, Hear Me Code, DC Web Women, Lesbians Who Tech or any of the other women-in-tech-focused groups in D.C., this might not sound like an altogether unusual month. And frankly, that’s a wonderful thing. As organizer Stephanie Nguyen put it, “our members organize events year round — October’s Tour de Code is our attempt to amplify their voices.”
Organizers hope the month will serve to raise awareness about the wealth of women-in-tech resources that exist in D.C., as well as allow individuals and organizations to make new connections and discover new opportunities. Asked for thoughts on event highlights for the upcoming months, Nguyen had a tough time picking just a few. “We are most excited to showcase the rich and diverse communities that are involved in all parts of tech,” she wrote.
The event series officially begins on Sept. 30 with a kickoff party to be held at Mapboxmore info, and RSVP, here.
After that it’s up to you to decide which calendar events are most enticing to your interests and experience — find the full calendar here.
