Visme wants to make everyone a designer

Rockville-based Visme started out as a tool for frustrated designers who couldn't use Flash on their Macs. But the software's simplicity soon attracted a broader audience.

Rockville-based Visme is the “marriage between a design tool and a presentation tool,” founder and president Payman Taei told Technical.ly DC.
At first, it was targeted at designers frustrated with “this old software, Flash,” he said. But then, “We decided to take a step back and simplify the tool and basically veer it towards everybody else,” said Taei.
The company eventually grew beyond design geeks: it now boasts over 170,000 users.
Offered in a freemium model, the program streamlines visual presentation work by combining functionalities from programs like PowerPoint and graphic design software.
Users can pull in texts, images, YouTube videos and “basically bring together whatever thoughts or idea that you have,” said Taei. “We allow you to do most of the things that you can do on your own” — in one program.
Originally named Easy WebContent, Visme moved from Frederick to Rockville last March. The company has a full-time staff of four.
