Dave Troy, CEO of Mailstrom-makers 410 Labs, was given a Circle of Excellence Award in the serial entrepreneurship category by SmartCEO magazine on Oct. 11.
Also nominated in the serial entrepreneurship category was Ron Schmelzer, TechBreakfast organizer and CEO of Bizelo, a company that makes apps for small businesses.

The Circle of Excellence Awards are in their fourth year and honor “leaders across 10 distinctive categories: philanthropy, turnaround, product innovation, customer service, marketing, family business, culture, serial entrepreneurship, young entrepreneurship and distinguished leadership,” according to a press release. The award application process started in May, and 12 “local business leaders from greater Baltimore came together to form the Circle of Excellence committee and to choose this year’s finalists and winners,” according to the release.
The awards ceremony, held at Thames Street Wharf, was “well attended,” said Troy in an e-mail, with about 250 people there.
