Fumbling around in your jacket pockets for your smart phone is hard to do when you’re wearing gloves to protect against the colder, winter weather.
This is why the Columbia-based BEARTek team wants you to leave the phone in your pocket and instead manage incoming calls, switching between tracks on music playlists and opening up apps with your fingertips. BEARTek’s glove is fitted with Bluetooth “touchpoints” on each finger. To control any one of a number of phone functions, simply touch the thumb of the glove to the corresponding finger touchpoint.

According to its Kickstarter page, BEARTek’s Bluetooth glove is compatible with iPhones (3G and newer) and Android devices, and users merely “pair” their gloves to their smart phones, matching touchpoints on the glove’s fingers to different functions (Spotify’s app or answering or ending calls, for instance) on a smart phone.
The team, which has working prototypes and factories lined up to produce the gloves, needs $50,000 to make tweaks to the software and fulfill minimum assembly, order and delivery quantities.
