Look out, Boston.
Beantown is Baltimore’s closest competitor among tech talent hubs, according to a new report from CBRE Research.
The report places Baltimore in the middle of 15 cities on its tech talent scorecard. The Greatest City in America rates above cities like Austin, Texas, Raleigh-Durham, N.C., and Chicago, the report states.

The ranking places Baltimore third nationally among cities that gained technology workers from 2010-2013. The city’s tech talent pool grew by a rate of 42.1 percent, the report states. Only San Francisco and Silicon Valley grew more.
While those indicators were relatively strong, the overall size of Baltimore’s tech talent labor pool didn’t crack the top 15. Washington, D.C., is the most populous tech city overall, with 248,110 workers. By comparison, Baltimore has 67,160 workers, which is also lower than nearby New York and Philadelphia, but higher than Raleigh-Durham.
With the report’s feature that allows comparison of five markets at once, we could go on. Have a look for yourself.
