UberX, a less expensive version of the car-chauffeuring service Uber, is now available in Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia and the Maryland suburbs.
This option features vetted amateur drivers in their own cars, as opposed to Über’s more signature town car company relationships. It’s a service that has been live in San Francisco for a year but that somewhat mirrors the model of ride-sharing tool Sidecar, which recently shut down in Philly following a struggle to find a legal way to operate in that city.
As Technically Baltimore reported, Uber has been operating in Baltimore since late January.
