Remember when Yellow Cab filed a request with the state Public Service Commission to prohibit the taxi-hailing app and car-chauffeuring service Uber, which launched in January, from operating in Baltimore city until the startup complied with the same safety and insurance regulations to which traditional cab companies must comply?
And when that request was denied by the Public Service Commission, but the PSC instructed its staff to “study the Uber business model”?
Well, according to the Baltimore Sun, the PSC staff report “concluded that Uber should file to become a common carrier, ‘if it intends to continue to operate in Maryland.’
Uber is protesting and urging the PSC to reject the report’s recommendation. No date has been set by the Public Service Commission for the hearing.
