Three Brooklyn startups are featured in Time’s 2014 10 NYC Startups to Watch list. These startups, along with seven others, will be honored during Internet Week. “Breakout” Brooklyn companies include:
- Placemeter: Currently incubated at the New York Times, this startup wants to track how crowded a place is before you visit it. The team will be based in Brooklyn after its NYT stint.
- Strolby: The company sells locally made, limited-production goods from small shops using an online platform. They began with local Brooklyn businesses and have since expanded to the Hudson Valley.
- Maker’s Row: Cofounder Tanya Menedez has participated in one of our past panels to discuss why her company that sources American manufacturers is based in Brooklyn.
Also, shoutout to interactive maker network Hatch, which was Brooklyn based until a move to Manhattan.
Update: Placemeter was not initially included in this story.
