If you know a woman who wishes she’d known more about technology as a kid or a young girl who thinks tech jobs are for geeks, and you’ve been wanting to help change that for others like them, TechGirlz is giving you a 24-hour window to help with its 10 for 10 fundraiser on Thursday.

June 14, 2012 is Twive and Receive day, a full 24-hour fundraising event organized by online fundraiser site Razoo.com. With a focus on bridging the gender gap in the tech industry by introducing middle school-age girls to the world of technology, TechGirlz is hoping to raise at least $25,000 in donations and rank as one of the top two fundraisers nationally to win an additional $10,ooo to $15,000 to support 10 more classes, camps and activities, said TechGirlz co-organizer Tracey Welson-Rossman, who is also involved in Philly Startup Leaders and marketing officer for Chariot Solutions.

(Razoo charges a standard 2.9 percent fee, which it describes as a low charge to cover credit card processing.)

To get the community involved, Techgirlz is using Twitter and other forms of social media to ask everyone to make a $10 donation at the Twive and Receive donation page on June 14 then pass the message on to 10 more friends, colleagues, or family members.

Here’s the recap: $10, 10 friends, $10,000 prize, 10 programs

To help TechGirlz meet their ambitious goals, here’s what you can do:

  1. Create a calendar alert for June 14, 2012
  2. On June 14, this Thursday, visit the Twive and Receive donation page and make a $10 (or more) donation to TechGirlz. Your gift only counts if you give on Thursday, the organizers say.
  3. Tell at least 10 of your friends to donate on June 14, too. If you tweet, you can use the @TechGirlzOrg Twitter handle.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 beginning at 3:00 am EST on June 14 for 24 hours.
