Instead of hiring a firm, State Senator LeAnna Washington had her mobile app made by a group of Philly students.

At tomorrow’s 6th Annual Tech Symposium for students hosted by Washington, students will announce the upcoming launch of the mobile app they built for the senator. The app, initially developed at last year’s Tech Symposium, aims to connect constituents to Washington’s office.

Founded in remembrance of Carole I. Smith, former executive director of the Mayor’s Commission on Technology in Philadelphia, the symposium aims to get students excited about technology.

Nearly 200 students are registered for the conference, held at Temple University. Workshops are being held by groups like the Overbrook High School Robotics Program and the Temple University College of Engineering.
