Scough: disease fighting scarf from Gowanus

Hide your germ mask behind a bit of fashion, handmade in Gowanus.

Do you kind of want to wear a germ mask during flu season but don’t want to be seen as one of those people who wear germ masks? Get a Scough. It’s a Gowanus team’s invention, which hides a mask inside a fashionable scarf (but includes the ear bands to make sure it stays in place).

The idea got kudos from PSFK, but you can see it in production and in practice in the following video from News 12 Brooklyn. If you recognize one of the cofounders, Andrew Kessler, it could be because he’s also behind the Dumbo company Togather, who’s event planning innovations we covered previously.
