It’s the final year of Brooklyn Beta

Brooklyn Beta will soon be no more, cofounder Chris Shiflett has confirmed to Technical.ly Brooklyn.

Workshop’s Jessi Arrington, a member of the Dumbo coworking space Studiomates, said Thursday at the Northside Innovation Festival that October will be the fifth and final year of the popular Brooklyn Beta conference. Workshop highlights Brooklyn Beta as one of its clients.

A quick look at Brooklyn Beta’s website shows the next event will be “The Grand Finale,” on October 10.

Its cofounders, Chris Shiflett and Cameron Koczon, created the conference to give designers and developers permission to quit their jobs and start their own businesses. Both co-founding entrepreneurs are also Studiomates members and the leaders of creative agency Fictive Kin.

Brooklyn Beta remains popular (the event sells out as soon as tickets go on sale). However, the fight it was founded to fight appears to have been won.
