In the quiet discovery of Ringly‘s first round of investment while it was in stealth mode, we found some early hints about its interest in the wearable technology space.
Now cofounder Christina Mercando has landed a glossy feature from Fast Company about its coming plans: Ringly is making a ring.
Other news about the company gleaned from this post:
- The device will go on sale next summer.
- The latest prototype hasn’t gotten to the point of putting its electronics into a flex board yet, but that’s happening in the next version.
- It will have lights to alert users and a motor to vibrate.
- Its key function will be helping a user know what kind of messages they are getting and decide whether or not to have a look at their phone.
- It has an accelerometer and Bluetooth LE inside.
Overall, the Fast Company piece is focused on aesthetics. Ringly is meant to be a leader in a new wave of wearables that put design and fashion consciousness first so that women are as likely to use them as men.
A couple more pieces of news via CEO Christina Mercando’s Twitter. Designs are likely to be viewable early next year and the company is demo’ing the product somewhere on Jan. 27th.
