The Community School in the Remington neighborhood was robbed over the weekend, reports North Baltimore Patch.
According to a police report, sometime between 4 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Sunday, a burglar was able to pry open the schools’ backdoor because the deadbolt wasn’t engaged and steal five MacBooks, three Mac minis, a video converter, another laptop, a photo scanner and various other computer related items. According to the Community School’s website, full-time day classes are offered for students between the ages of 15 and 18 who are preparing to take the GED. The school also provides a college support program for students, who “are promised that they will be encouraged, supported, and prepared to go on to college.” Students are given assistance with enrollment, course registration and filling out financial aid forms.
According to North Baltimore Patch, school president Tom Culotta “said that if anyone would be willing to donate a laptop they are not using or make a donation to help them buy new computers it would be appreciated.”
