The mood turned a bit bleak toward the end of last week’s Philly Startup Leaders‘ Founder Factory as a panel on company culture discussed the ins and outs of firing a team member.
“Can I just say this is the most grim panel I’ve ever been on?” quipped RJMetrics CEO and cofounder Robert Moore.
The rest of the day was a little more lighthearted, according to attendee tweets. Roughly 250 community members attended Founder Factory, one of PSL’s flagship events, said co-organizer Gloria Bell.
This year’s event, held at World Cafe Live, centered around a new tagline: Where Startups are Built. The idea was to get entrepreneurs talking about how they got their startup going and the challenges they faced along the way. Topics ranged from team building to customer development to company culture. ShopRunner CEO Michael Golden gave the day’s opening remarks and First Round Capital managing partner Josh Kopelman closed out the day.
