Philly and Baltimore have thrown down the gauntlet.

With both cities’ Startup Weekends scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 28, it’s the perfect time for a little friendly (hashtag) competition.

Startup Weekend is a weekend-long event where teams build products and launch startups. The hashtag battle will keep track of all the #PHLSW and #BALTSW hashtags tweeted (and, ahem, Philly is winning right now).

Says Baltimore Startup Weekend co-organizer Mike Brenner: “It’s on, Philly!” (His Startup Weekend will cap off the inaugural Baltimore Innovation Week, which our sister site is organizing.)

As for Philly Startup Weekend co-organizer Chris Baglieri, he only had this to add: “[dusts off giant cannon with the Liberty Bell engraved on the side] ”

The battle will rage on until the event itself, so get tweeting, Philly. We can’t be losing to Technically Baltimore.
