This week, Ruby on Rails programmers have their monthly meetup, the second Baltimore Tech Parents happy hour takes place at Heavy Seas Ale House, and Ron Schmelzer’s TechBreakfast makes its debut in Columbia.

Bmore on Rails monthly meetup: Ruby on Rails programmers, join your fellow coding compatriots at at Medical Decision Logic on Tuesday night. Eric Oestrich of Canton-based SmartLogic Solutions talks API, co-organizer of the first Ruby DConf Keith Bennett will be there, and Ted O’Meara, project manager at D.C.’s intridea will present about regression issues.  Tuesday, Aug. 14, 7 p.m. Medical Decision Logic, 1216 E. Baltimore Tech Parents happy hour: Technologically-inclined parents meet up at Heavy Seas Ale House on Tuesday. In attendance will be Burck Smith, CEO and founder of StraighterLine, which offers online college courses at low rates, and Susan Magsamen, the founder of Curiosityville, a startup based in Baltimore County that creates personalized learning experiences for children under eight. First-ever Columbia TechBreakfast: Ron Schmelzer finally brings his TechBreakfast monthly meetups to Columbia on Thursday. Six local companies will present demos about their products. While the event is all filled up right now with 160 planning to attend, a wait list is available (and people might drop out before the day of the event). Note that the location for the event has been changed, and is no longer at Howard Community College as Technically Baltimore reported in JulyThursday, Aug. 16, 8 a.m. Loyola University Maryland Columbia Campus, 8890 McGaw Rd. #130, Columbia, Howard County 21045.
