Allison Kopf really likes food, so it would seem. Not happy just running a company making data and analytics more readily available to urban farmers, the Agrilyst cofounder, who headlined TechCrunch Disrupt this year in Brooklyn, now wants to invite people over for dinner to talk about farming, or as it’s increasingly being called in the tech sector’s weird march toward new-speak, AgTech.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to have met so many brilliant individuals interested in the indoor agriculture industry over the years,” Kopf wrote in a Medium post announcing the dinners. “It’s about time we all get to know each other and share our knowledge, experience, and insight. The way to propel this industry forward is to foster collaboration.”

Agrilyst makes software for indoor farmers which allows them to monitor their crops with a level of precision currently well out of the range of outdoor commercial farms, or anyone planting anything anywhere, really. It announced a seed round of $1 million dollars this spring, led by Brooklyn Bridge Ventures.
For the dinners, which will take place Nov. 29, Dec. 20 and Jan. 31, Kopf will choose six to eight guests from a list of those who sign up for consideration (which you can do here). Each dinner will have a topic of conversation and each guest will be expected to bring a dish that can serve six to eight. Guests will be emailed in advance of the dinner the location.
November’s dinner conversation will be “Breaking Ag: Is the Food System Broken?”
