“I like to keep tabs on things and stay connected,” said Joe DeCicco.
DeCicco, who was recently promoted from Chief Operations Officer to partner at the Archer Group in Wilmington, spends the first and last 30 minutes of each day catching up on emails and resolving any issues.
“Our business moves very quickly so there are always distractions, but I like to address things quickly and make decisions,” he explained.
Since joining the firm in 2014, DeCicco has helped optimize the workflow and reporting structure.
“Joe has implemented mechanisms that allow us to have real-time feedback regarding project health and our employee workloads,” Chief Finance Officer Tim Mihok said in a statement. “We are now working smarter which is saving our clients money and giving time back to our employees to focus on other passions.”
DeCicco described his new role at the Archer Group as a dream job.
“To have this role in a growing agency was one of my dreams,” he said. “This is really an ideal outcome, and I look forward to Archer’s continued success.”
He also shared some of his other work hacks with us.
What’s the first thing you do every day before doing any job-related work?
Hang with the kids for a few minutes before school and work, get caught up on financial news and check the markets and check my calendar for the day.
Name something you do each day to make sure your day is productive.
I’m a big fan of to-do lists. I like to at least check off one important to do each day. I’m realistic, things happen, but being able to at least know I’ve completed something on “the list” is helpful. I also make sure I have at least one productive conversation with a team member. People are our business so it’s important to make time.
What is your go to soundtrack when you need to focus and push through a busy day or tough project?
I’m a big fan of classic rock so anything Grateful Dead. If I really need to crank I’ll go to Metallica’s “One.”
