Homegrown Carvertise (one of the winners of our recent startup realLIST) has once again pushed beyond the borders of Delaware. The company now has advertisement-wrapped cars in Maryland.
Our sister site Technically Baltimore reports that Carvertise has Maryland Mortgage Program ads on more than 20 cars in St. Mary’s, Charles and Calvert Counties.
You likely know Carvertise’s deal by now, but if you don’t the gist is that it finds advertisers and drivers to join together with ads placed on cars. The drivers earn extra money while advertisers get mobile billboards with a unique hook in local areas.
This new deal with the Maryland Mortgage Program marks Carvertise’s first foray into the state of Maryland. The reason they wound up with that particular client? Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Assistant Secretary Matt Heckles learned about Carvertise here in Delaware from the State’s housing department. Heckles recommended Carvertise since his department wanted to try another way to advertise to Southern Maryland’s counties. Carvertise was unique enough to meet that need.
Back in March, we offered “a cold, hard look at retaining young entrepreneurs in Delaware.” It was then that Carvertise cofounder Mac Nagaswami said that, at some point, “we will have to move beyond here.” This spread to Maryland might be part of that effort.
