D.C.’s very own on-demand flower delivery service, UrbanStems, announced on Wednesday a $6.8 million Series A. The funding round was lead by SWaN & Legend Venture Partners, a firm based out of Leesburg, Va.
Other investors in this round include Middleland Capital, NextGen Venture Partners, Interplay Ventures, and Kevin Plank’s Sagamore Ventures.
According to a press release the round will enable the company to expand coverage is D.C. and NYC, the service’s two active markets, as well as launch in two new cities — Philadelphia and Baltimore.
The release goes on to say that the interest of SWaN & Legend’s managing director was piqued by the company’s scalability. “We are always on the lookout for companies like UrbanStems that are so disruptive that they actually change an industry while attracting deeply, even obsessively, loyal customers,” David Strasser said.
UrbanStems previously raised a $1.5 million seed round in February 2015.
