Remember the Wharton professor you can pitch only if you walk him home?
This Friday afternoon, you have chance of pitching a high-profile Philly venture capitalist on a free 15-minute Uber ride. It’s one of many marketing gimmicks from the on-demand car service, and one that shows its clout. What other tech company could get Josh Kopelman to spend an afternoon taking pitches in an Uber? (Kopelman’s First Round Capital is an Uber investor. He also drove uberX the weekend it launched here.)
Use the code PHILLYPITCH from 12-4 p.m. this Friday to try to get a ride.
More info
Kopelman is one of nearly a dozen Philly investors that are part of the “UberPITCH” event. (The website says that’s “subject to change,” though.) Others include Safeguard Scientifics’ Philip Moyer, Gabriel Investments’ Scott Tarte and Comcast Ventures’ Sam Landman, who’s based in New York City. There’s also some investors from private equity firms NewSpring Capital and LLR Partners, which doesn’t seem to cater to the demographic of a founder who would jump on this marketing ploy but face time is face time, right?
If you manage to get a ride, email us and tell us how it went.
