Hey readers, welcome fall with a packed week of tech events.

This week: Two hackathons, Ignite Philly and a panel on new types of incubators — all chosen with great difficulty amid a very full calendar.

Penn Apps Fall 2012: The semi-annual weekend-long hackathon for students across the country. Friday, 6:00 p.m. – Sunday, 5:00 p.m. The Quadrangle, University of Pennsylvania, 3650 Spruce Street. University City. RSVP. Free.

Hacks for Democracy: Azavea and Knight-Mozilla OpenNews host a politics and voting-themed hackathon. (And, as an aside, we’re hoping to work with PennApps, Hacks and many other hackathons to create a more steamline process, in which we don’t have two hackathons during the same weekend) Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – Sunday, 5:00 p.m. Venturef0rth, 417 N. 8th St. Callowhill. RSVP. $5.

Ignite Philly 10: The popular event featuring lightning presentations of local inspirational stories. This one’s already sold out, folks. Thursday, 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 Frankford Ave. Fishtown.

Regional Spotlight: Emerging Industry Incubators: The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce holds a panel on industry-specific incubators featuring entrepreneurs from the Project Liberty Incubator, the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator and Burlington County College Incubator . Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Macy’s East, Greek Hall, 3rd Floor, 1300 Market Street. Center City. RSVP. $70 for non-Chamber members, $35 with discount code SEPT.
