Gaming. The Mill cofounder Robert Herrera sees value in the medium and the people who consume and create it.
During an event meant to showcase the future of The Mill, Herrera talked a bit about how the coworking space intends to push into the gaming landscape in unique ways.
Herrera’s kicking around two specific ideas that he was willing to share.
First, Theater N, currently under The Mill’s management, might soon play host to large-scale video game launches. This means The Mill would work with publishers and developers to hold events for the launch of a popular game. Herrera indicated that he’s started talking to gaming companies about the possibility of holding launch events here in Wilmington.
“Can you imagine people driving down from Philly or in from Wilmington U? To come here for events like this?” Herrera was more than enthusiastic as he talked about the idea with us. “If I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it right.”
It doesn’t stop there. Herrera intends to attract gamers to smaller, weekly events at The Mill, too. That means gaming nights where players get together to partake in tournaments or casually catch up while playing low-key titles.
As we talked, Herrera recognized that there’s currently a vacuum for video game-focused events in Wilmington. He believes The Mill is well-positioned to fill the void and stand on the edge of that digitally interactive frontier.
