Whether it’s a coworking space for artists, software developers or social entrepreneurs, it seems like community reigns supreme.

That’s the story at The Exchange, yet another coworking space that’s emerged. This one’s in Center City at the Friends Center and is focused on social entrepreneurs and nonprofits, Flying Kite reported. It houses about half a dozen organizations, many of which are one-man (or woman) shops, including the GreenLight Fund Philly and Spark Philadelphia.

It aims to double in size by next year, according to the Flying Kite report. If you’re interested in renting space, contact teresa AT harp-weaver.com

Here’s one member on the value of community at The Exchange:

“I came from a larger nonprofit and was recruited to start Spark [in Philadelphia],” explains Jenny Bogoni, executive director of the organization’s Philly site. “The fact that there was a place to go made the idea of going to this startup much more imaginable. I had thought, what am I going to do without an office? Or without colleagues? I was the only employee for the first two months. It has made it feel possible to build an organization. I have people to turn to.”
