We’ll forgive the Philadelphia Eagles for their one-point victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Besides, we all know it’s the fault of the B-squad referees the NFL is trotting out onto football fields these days.
We know what the real intercity battle is going to be.
A week from Friday, to close out Baltimore Innovation Week, Charm City will be pitted against the City of Brotherly Love when both Baltimore and Philadelphia hold their respective Startup Weekend events.
Register for Startup Weekend Baltimore.
To track each city’s progress, participants will be throwing down in the only way a bunch of energy drink-hopped hackers know how: Twitter-hosted hashtag battles, using #PHLSW and #BALTSW.
Each tweet using the respective hashtag is something of a vote for that city. So, yes, you better get tweeting. (Might we suggest also using #biw12 for Innovation Week?)
Startup Weekend affords developers, designers and idea-people 54 hours to conceive of a product or company, build a prototype and present the end result to a panel of judges and compete for award money. The first Startup Weekend in Baltimore, held in April 2011, produced Federal Hill-based Parking Panda, which now runs its peer-to-peer parking service in Washington, D.C., and San Francisco.
