A new coworking space is coming to Baltimore.
A Baltimore location of Spaces will open inside the Stadium Square development in South Baltimore, according to developer Caves Valley Partners.
Amsterdam-based Spaces signed a lease for a 35,000 sq. ft. space in the building at 145 W. Ostend St. The space will occupy two-and-a-half floors of the six-story building.
The deal adds an international player to Baltimore’s growing collection of coworking spaces. The company specializes in “creative flexible work environments,” and seeks to foster community and host events at its locations, according to the release. Its website says it offers dedicated desks, offices and meeting room space, as well as access to an international network. The closest locations to Baltimore are Chevy Chase and D.C. A new space in Arlington, Va., is coming this month.
“We are excited to introduce Spaces to the Baltimore business community and this is the perfect location to do so,” Michael Berretta, Spaces Vice President of Network Development for the Americas said in a statement. “Community, innovation, and energy are the hallmarks of the Spaces experience. Our members are attracted to the lifestyle we cultivate in our locations.”
It also adds a large tenant for Stadium Square, which is located in the Sharp-Leadenhall neighborhood between Federal Hill and the stadiums. The building where Spaces will be is now 50 percent leased, according to Caves Valley Partners. Financial services firm Janney Montgomery Scott is also signed on.
“We are thrilled to see the vibrant live, work, play environment that we envisioned coming to fruition as residents, retailers, and businesses realize the opportunities this dynamic mixed-use development has to offer,” Arsh Mirmiran a partner with Caves Valley Partners, said in a statement.
In all, the Stadium Square project encompasses three city blocks. It’s envisioned as a mix of office space, luxury apartments, retail and a revamped Solo Gibbs Park. As we’ve reported, it also boasts fast internet via dark fiber connection to the nearby TierPoint data center. Caves Valley Partners is also leading redevelopment of the Cross St. Market in Federal Hill.
