The event brought to D.C. by Chida Chidambaram and Steven A. Rodriguez in 2016, is a week dedicated to celebrating startups and entrepreneurship in the area. Startup Week was created as a means of bringing the startup community together.

One of this year’s organizers, Rachel Koretsky, says she’s most excited to expand Startup Week’s reach to cities outside of D.C. proper. Some of this year’s events will be hosted at coworking spaces in Alexandria, Va., Arlington, Va., and Bethesda, Md.

“The different connections that people are able to make to either start their business or grow their business, is the most rewarding thing,” she said.

Koretsky said this year’s DC Startup Week will feature more than 100 events. She said this year the planning team focused on content that is “inspiring, educational and impactful” for entrepreneurs and founders at all different stages in their careers.

Applications are being accepted until Sept. 9 for the pitch competition and a chance to secure a spot at the WeDC Innovation Marketplace, where DC Startup Week is providing 40 booths free of charge to DMV startups to showcase their businesses, products and ideas.
