Parking at Camden Yards can be an adventure at times, one peppered with traffic jams and packed lots, that eventually (hopefully) ends in a spot in the same zip code.
The folks at Federal Hill-based Parking Panda hope to ease some of that burden.
Company officials on Wednesday announced the extension of their official parking partnership with MLB.com to the Baltimore Orioles.
“We’re obviously very excited about that,” Marketing Director Mark McTamney said. “We’ve been hoping to work with the Orioles for quite some time.”
In addition to buying stadium lot parking online, Orioles fans can now use a Parking Panda widget on the same page to find nearby parking from third-party vendors near the yard. Eventually, McTamney said, the move could be extended to a callout in team ticketing emails.
Currently, parking for most upcoming Orioles home games starts at $6 on Parking Panda. Advance parking permits purchased through the team can cost $8 to $10 for nearby lots and must be bought 10 days ahead of time. Game-day parking in lots F, G and H runs for $8.
The Orioles are the sixth team the company’s services have been integrated with, following the Pittsburgh Pirates, Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Rays, Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins. But, despite that, spaces are still available with Parking Panda lot operators near venues and teams that have yet to integrate with the service, like Boston’s Fenway Park and Chicago’s Wrigley Field.
The move won’t directly impact Parking Panda’s inventory going forward.
“Indirectly, of course, when you’re officially aligned with a team, you get more attention with the providers around the stadium,” he said.
In addition to MLB.com, Parking Panda also has partnerships with the Atlanta Falcons and the Verizon Center (home of the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals). The company recently submitted a proposal to become the official parking partner of the Baltimore Ravens.
