Newark-based PlayerChase wants to make Delaware a big deal in sports recruiting.
The free web platform, launched today, Aug. 21, connects high-school athletes, high-school coaches and college coaches, streamlining a notoriously complicated process. Playing college ball ain’t easy.
Students use PlayerChase to showcase their game stats, individual attributes, highlight videos, transcripts and test scores, while high-school coaches use it to build rosters, interact privately with college coaches and verify stats. The network projects that it will have over 20 college coaches with profiles by early September.
“College coaches told us they need one place to go for information on players,” said CEO Ryan Considine. “They need to do as much due diligence as possible. PlayerChase allows them to do that through interaction with the high school players and their coaches.”
As they build their user base, the PlayerChase team intends to keep much of the focus on Delaware.
“If you think about it, Delaware has all the attributes a startup company is looking for,” CFO Michael Smith said. “We’re a great match. PlayerChase is for players that want to get that scholarship, that walk-on opportunity to play, have a hand in shaping their recruiting story and making sure student-athletes and coaches are finding each other.”
