MD teams join first cohort of D.C. Innovation Corps

There are seven from Maryland, including one based out of the Emerging Technology Center.

Several teams of Maryland-based entrepreneurs have joined the first cohort of the D.C. Innovation Corps, an incubator program for scientists and engineers.

The D.C. program is modeled off of and part of the network of the national Innovation Corps, run by the National Science Foundation, which “focuses on inspiring innovation in the engineering, medical/health/life sciences, physical sciences and computer sciences fields.”
D.C. Innovation Corps began Oct. 7. The Daily Record reports that the 20 teams chosen will take seven weeks to “develop prototypes for new products and create scalable business models.”

Emerging Technology Center

  • Tutela Industries: interactive patient engagement platform that employs a patient
    engagement approach with the ultimate goal of improving short and
    long-term outcomes for babies in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Johns Hopkins University

  • Read Ahead: ocular training method for seeing ahead when learning to read music.

University of Maryland, Baltimore County (from the Cyber Incubator@bwtech)

  • Surveillant: advanced compliance and checklist software for government, financial, security and related sectors.

University of Maryland, College Park
