Lyft’s new black car service is moving into D.C.
The new Lux service, which the ridesharing company started rolling out earlier this year, is now live in the District. It’s distinct from the Premier service, which Lyft also rolled out this year. While Premier matches with a high-end car, Lux sends an “ultra high-end” ride. Some of the cars listed by the company include a BMW 5-Series or Cadillac Escalade.
According to WTOP, it’s aimed at the business community and special occasions. The service is aiming to offer cars with leather or leather-like seats, and must seat six passengers.
It appears to be a direct competition with Uber’s black car service, which was one of the company’s original offerings.
