Right time, right place?

EngageMe, a new Philly-built mobile app, wants to send you deals based on your current location. As cofounder Doug Berman puts it, if you’re walking past a restaurant and it has a special “no corkage fee” offer, you’ll get an alert.

Launched this past month, the app has featured offers from local businesses like Table 31, Thunder Hair Salon and the Prime Rib, Berman said. The team, based in Center City, is currently in search of local and national partners, Berman said.

Berman, 47, lives in Center City and has previously worked as a consultant for Comcast. His cofounder Brad Mayer, 41, lives in Fairmount and oversaw the implementation of a municipal wireless network for a town called Chaska in Minnesota.
