DuckDuckGo donates $25K to Girl Develop It

The Paoli-based search engine was specifically interested in Girl Develop It's mission to increase the number of women who contribute to open source projects.

DuckDuckGo just donated $25,000 to tech education nonprofit Girl Develop It. The national nonprofit’s executive director Corinne Warnshuis is based in Philadelphia.
It’s one of five donations from the Paoli-based privacy-minded search engine, totaling $125,000, to organizations focused on privacy and open source development.

DuckDuckGo was specifically interested in Girl Develop It’s Summer of Open Source Fellowship, a program piloted in Philadelphia that pairs women with mentors to work on open source projects over the course of a summer. That fellowship will expand to other cities, in partnership with Code for America, this summer, Warnshuis said.
