Teams selected for the accelerator program get benefits including $50,000 in seed funding, mentoring, access to clinicians and medical executives, pro bono legal services and $50,000 in Amazon Web Services credit. DreamIt Health typically takes an 8 percent equity stake in participating startups.
Additionally, DreamIt Ventures can offer up to $250,000 in follow-on funding after an accelerator startup gets its first investment led by a professional investor, according to DreamIt officials.
Last year’s program operated out of spare Johns Hopkins University office space at Bond Street Wharf in Fells Point, but managing director Jason Hardebeck is eyeing permanent space downtown.
