Three years after she founded online marketing agency Sepiida, CEO Anita Garimella Andrews, who recently had a child, felt like she wasn’t giving enough to both her business and her new daughter. But Sepiida was flourishing, Garimella Andrews said.
“I didn’t want to lose that momentum,” she wrote in an email.
So when Delphic Digital, a firm with which Sepiida had already partnered, proposed an acquisition, it made sense. The Manayunk-based digital agency acquired Sepiida last November, as we previously reported, and released an official announcement earlier this month.
At the time of acquisition, Center City-based Sepiida had close to 10 employees, Garimella Andrews said, and some made the move to Delphic Digital with her. She declined to disclose more specific employee numbers.
Garimella Andrews, who is now Delphic Digital’s General Manager of analytics and optimization, talks about the acquisition in terms of gaining a business partner.
“Looking back,” she said, “I think it would have been nicer to have started the company with a partner.”
Though she has less freedom since she’s no longer running her own company, Garimella Andrews said she enjoys having “senior people to bounce ideas off of and to learn from.” Working for a more established agency also feels less high-stakes, she said.
“I feel as though I’m still leading a startup practice (which I love to do), but with an agency that has a proven track record, great clients, and real sustained revenue,” she wrote. “It kind of takes some of the pressure off.”
