If you need to learn some Internet basics, who better to teach you than Al Roker?
Comcast recently relaunched its online Learning Center as part of its “Internet Essentials” program. The Center, sporting a new design, offers digital literacy resources like video tutorials on how to use social media or how to use the Internet to do homework, starring none other than TV talent from the Today Show, MSNBC, NBC and Telemundo.
Internet Essentials is a low-cost Internet program and described as part of Comcast’s effort to close the digital divide. Launched in the fall of 2011, the program resulted from a mandate from the FCC as part of the company’s deal to acquire NBC.
In February, we reported that only 463 families had adopted the program in Philadelphia though more than 150,000 families were eligible.
