Wilmington rideshare-based transit advertising company Carvertise is collaborating with specialty auto shops across the country, including Jiffy Lube, Pep Boys and Take 5 Oil Change, that will give its drivers access to discount codes and savings on automotive products and services.
The incentive, called the Carvertise Perks Program, was created in response to feedback from drivers, many of whom are rideshare or delivery drivers for services such as Uber, Lyft and DoorDash.
“The stories we heard first hand from our drivers is really what led us to pursue this,” said Carvertise Director of Operations Eric Smith, who led the initiative, in a statement. “Earning side income is extremely important to them, so if we can also reduce their cost of living, that will have a similar net effect.”
Penny Williams-Ware, a Carvertise driver from Claymont, looks forward to the program.
“Maintaining my vehicle can be pricey at times, but of course it’s necessary so any savings is certainly always welcomed and appreciated,” she said.
Over time, the Perks Program may expand other companies beyond specialty auto shops.
Carvertise, which was founded as a startup at the University of Delaware by Mac Macleod and Greg Star in 2012, has grown into a national company and a leader in the rideshare advertising industry. It began focusing on rideshare and delivery drivers in the last couple of years, with commuters with qualifying cars still eligible to earn monthly passive income by wrapping their cars with local or national advertising.
