A company that’s looking to take the dealership out of the process of buying a used car expanded to Baltimore this week.
Phoenix-based Carvana says it can set customers up with shopping, financing and purchasing of a used car through its web-based platform. The cars are then delivered. In place of a test drive, the owner has a seven-day window to use the car and still get money back.
The company also makes car vending machines, but those aren’t in Baltimore at this time.
Baltimore is the 36th market for the company. The service is available within a 50-mile radius of the city.
“Baltimore has emerged as a tech-forward city,” CEO Ernie Garcia said in a statement. “It makes sense to give Baltimore residents an alternative to the antiquated dealership sales process and meet them where they’re making their purchases: online.”
Carvana went public in April, and has been making moves this summer by acquiring Carlypso.
