“Our web presence gives us authority and helps us build trust with the community,” said Stephanie Graves, marketing manager at Montchanin-based kitchenware company Calvert Retail.
The quote is front and center as part of Google’s 2016 economic impact report, which highlights its economic impact in all 50 U.S. states, plus Washington, D.C., and tells the success stories of individual businesses that are using the internet to grow their business. According to the report, released Tuesday, Google’s tools helped provide $222 billion of economic activity for more than 1 million businesses, website publishers and nonprofits across the country in 2016.  In Delaware, Google’s search and advertising tools contributed to $632 million of economic activity. Additionally, nonprofit organizations in the state were given $1.18 million in free advertising, thanks to the Google Ads Grant program.
Calvert Retail uses Google’s search and advertising tools to attract customers, keep guests up-to-date on their stores’ information and track the success of their online campaigns.
“Google is very user-friendly,” Graves said in the report. “We can jump in and do things without a big learning curve. That’s a huge relief for a small business.”
Calvert Retail, founded in 1999, currently has eight stores and 300 employees.
