Blackboard announced Friday the acquisition of Remote-Learner UK, an edtech company in the United Kingdom and Ireland that provides services for users of Moodle, Blackboard’s open source rival in the learning management system space.
“Openness and interoperability are fundamental to Blackboard as online ecosystems expand and evolve to meet the changing demands of learners and faculty,” Mark Strassman, BlackBoard’s senior VP of product management, said in a release.
The D.C.-based edtech company announced the acquisition of Schoolwires, an education website for K-12 schools, a little over two months ago.
