Modify a light bulb so that the light emitter and the light diffuser act independently of one another, and you have the ZG-1: the first reusable, waterproof light bulb, according to its creators.
The bulb is designed by Zero Gravity Creations, a company founded by two artists — Aric Wanveer and Tim McFadden — who specialize in custom metal and glass creations, and do a chunk of their work at their glass studio on Eastern Avenue near the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Whereas typical bulbs hit the trash the instant the internal emitter kicks the bucket, the ZG-1 bulb allows for the LED emitter inside to be replaced.
With a prototype in hand, the artists are now raising $15,000 on Indiegogo to pay for, among other costs, the filing fees of international patents and the travel and booth costs associated with demoing the ZG-1 bulb and accompanying lighting system at the Light Fair International Trade Show 2014.

Full disclosure: Zero Gravity Creations is hosting an open house at its glass studio during Baltimore Innovation Week, which Technically Baltimore organizes.
