Cybersecurity comes out in the open this week at the Baltimore Convention Center.
The CyberMaryland Conference is back for its fifth edition Oct. 28-29.
The main event is a confab full of panels and keynotes.
The keynote speakers are from a couple of agencies that usually don’t appear in public. To kick off the conference, there’s a keynote from Philip D. Quade, the chief of the NSA’s Cyber Task Force. At lunch, U.S. Secret Service Special Agent in Charge of the Criminal Intelligence Division (CID) Stuart Tyron will also step into the spotlight.
Alongside the conference, the event also has a chance to get a job and connect with investors.
On Wednesday, Oct. 28, a job fair at the convention center sponsored by ClearedJobs.net features reps from most of the area’s bigger employers, like the NSA, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Leidos, HP and Booz Hamilton Allen. Attendees have to pre-register.
Startups also have some space reserved.
A group of five investors are lined up to hear pitches from a group of pre-selected companies at Cyber Shark Tank on Thursday, Oct. 29. In addition to the advice doled out, there will also be cash prizes. Afterward, around 3:30 p.m., there is time allotted for one-on-one sessions with investors during the Cyber Investor Connection.
And, of course, there’s networking. On Oct. 28, bwtech@UMBC is hosting CyberTini at the Columbus Center on West Pratt Street. The event promises comments from the “movers and shakers” in cybersecurity. Registration is required.
