3rd Ward Philadelphia: Kensington coworking spot to open April with space for “hundreds”

3rd Ward, the coworking and educational space that’s expanding from Brooklyn, as we’ve reported, will open in Kensington this April, nearly a year later than originally planned.

The space is decked out with a kitchen that’ll function as a classroom and a space for caterers, a metal shop, a wood shop and a coworking space that will fit “hundreds.” There will also be a restaurant and bar on the ground floor. The entire spot clocks in at 27,000 sq.ft., just larger than NextFab‘s new South Philly space (21,000 sq.ft.).

3rd Ward’s launch date has been pushed back a few times — it was originally slated to open last summer and then this past fall. Since its original launch date, several new coworking spots have opened their doors, like the artist-focused CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia, Benjamin’s Desk and Jewish-focused Tribe Commons. Coworking is still hot in this city, it seems.
