Philadelphia’s culinary culture is on the rise, and not just because Michelin decided to finally come through.
Nearly every type of food can be found throughout Philly’s diverse neighborhoods, with many entrepreneurs bringing their families’ traditional flavors to a broader audience. These small businesses literally nourish their communities and contribute to the city’s vibrancy.
Technical.ly partnered with the city Department of Commerce to tell the stories of entrepreneurs from all 48 residential zip codes in Philadelphia, highlighting the challenges they face, the strengths of building businesses in the city and what they need to thrive.
We received over 100 submissions to the Grow Philly survey, with more than half of the responses from Black and brown entrepreneurs. Our ongoing article series showcases these varied companies that call Philadelphia home.
