This one’s for all of you career changers out there: if you’re trying to get in the dev game, you may want to start by checking out which languages are most likely to secure you a gig.

That’s why this report from Bellevue, Wash.-based dev school Coding Dojo is pretty timely. On Thursday the company published a report highlighting the most popular coding languages among hiring companies in a few U.S. cities, including our fair town.

Our sister site Technical.ly D.C. can tell you more about what’s poppin’ in our nation’s capital, but here’s the the Philly line up:

  1. Java
  2. JavaScript / MEAN stack
  3. Python
  4. C#
  5. Swift / iOS

Coding Dojo calculated the rankings based on the number of job postings mentioning coding languages on employment websites Dice.com and indeed.com, taking the average monthly Google search volume for keywords related to coding languages and with input from their instructors about student demand.

The report also pointed to the company seeking the most devs for the top language. In the Philly area, the number one employer is Lockheed Martin, which is headquartered in Bethesda, Md., but has locations in South Jersey and King of Prussia, Pa.

“This analysis shows that the demand for coding skills is local, and knowing a language that will help you get a job in San Jose may not get you hired in Washington D.C.,” said Michael Choi, CEO at Coding Dojo.

What do you think? Are these the hottest languages to learn? Give us your feedback in the comments below.
