‘Philly has that great jumpstart culture’: designer Hilary Sedgwick

Sedgwick, a UArts grad, is a designer at Center City ad agency allen & gerritsen and was previously art director at Fishtown's O3 World.

Why does Philadelphia have such an impressive design scene?

Because the city has “that great jumpstart culture,” said designer Hilary Sedgwick in an interview with Rad Girls, a new website that celebrates local women.

“It’s easy to meet like-minded people that you can spend time with and collaborate with and learn from. You have a lot of letterpress, screen print, illustrators, and typographers. To be able to mingle with that many different types of people because they’re so accessible — it just breeds this great culture.”
