In a partnership between Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU), Code for Philly and the Technology Council of Central PA, a group of 200 technologists have been working on leveraging the state’s public data repositories to improve the efficiency of state government and services.

On Nov. 4, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., the event’s final judging session will go down — simultaneously, via video conference — at HU’s Philly and Harrisburg campuses. Twenty-two teams will showcase their projects before a panel of judges for a shot at the “Grand Prize of recognition” and six other additional specialty awards.

“We look forward to seeing what these bright, civic-minded individuals are able to create using our data,” Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf said in a statement. “Data is one of our greatest assets and events like this are a way to leverage data in new and innovative ways to benefit the public.” (That reminds us of the governor’s appearance at Philly Tech Week 2017.)

In Philly, Harrisburg University’s campus is at 1500 Spring Garden St. No need to RSVP. As with most civic hacking events, any and all are welcome.
